If Rutgers goes undefeated, should they play in the BCS championship game over a once-beaten Ohio State or a once-beaten Michigan?
I say yes. They’re in the Big East, a BCS conference whose top three or four teams can play with the top three or four teams from any other conference. They’d have beaten two Top Ten teams in West Virginia and Louisville. If either of those two teams deserved a shot in the title game had they gone undefeated, then so would an undefeated Rutgers.
I pondered this question while listening to this week’s episode of The Cover Two, where the topic was discussed.
I was looking at the BCS rankings this week and they are average of 2.5 in the computers. It’s the human polls that are keeping them down. You would think a win against Louisville would get them more respect. Ask me again after they play W. Va. I think that’s what the human beans are doing. They all keep thinking surely they will lose eventually.
Right now, I would say no. They still have something to prove.
If they maintain…then I think they go in. It is important that “small schools” always have a shot at the show, and this team has proved that they are a first rate team.
A year ago I would have said absolutely not. Then the Sugar Bowl happened.

No way! Rutgers plays a pussy schedule! Plus, West Virginia is going to clean their little New Jersey clocks, so it’s moot. It’ll be USC vs. Ohio State, I’m pretty sure.
Also, Georgia will wipe the floor with Tech as per usual. Maybe Georgia will play Rutgers in a bowl.

OK that game last night was crap. But i thought that it might happen. With so much talk about RU going to the final dance this year the player became arrogant. Who thinks that Cinny will be a big game? Well it bit them in the ass and I have to be the first to acknowledge it.
